Offshore Emergency Medicine®

This popular seminar is now in its 18th year, offering intensive medical training for cruisers and racing sailors operating out of range of rapid rescue and medical assistance. The program includes approximately 12 hours of pre-course reading, study, and on-line testing followed by three days of on-site training. There are no medical training prerequisites, but basic first aid and CPR is recommended. Certification is awarded by Wilderness Medical Associates International, and earns 36 hours CME from CECBEMS. Offshore Emergency Medicine is Coast Guard approved under 46CFR 11.205(e)(l)(i).

OEM: Offshore Emergency Medicine
6 - 8 May 2016 in Portland, Maine

This is a home town course, taught by the Top Brass of Wilderness Medical Associates International. The course site will be the University of Southern Maine campus  in downtown Portland, a true sailor's town with numerous restaurants and pubs and cobble streets to test your land legs.

Instructions for pre-course study will be sent to you by email. The required textbook is Wilderness and Rescue Medicine 6th Edition, by Jeffrey Isaac, PA-C and David Johnson, MD and may be purchased in print form from the WMA Bookstore. The digital version of the book is available for download on Amazon Kindle. You should plan to complete the assigned reading and on-line test before arrival. Training will run from 0830 to 1700 daily.
